.LFW.

This week Burberry's Autumn/Winter 2011 collection catwalk display was shown in all its glory from the famous billboards of Piccadilly Circus in London. Many people gathered to view the spectacular fashion show in this unique and innovative way for the first time ever. Expectations were high, especially from fashion students within the crowd and the clothes did not fail to impressive. Criticisms however, involved people wanting to be able to hear the music from the show, I personally feel this would have added more of an atmosphere to the event and agree that the music plays a large but in the creative experience of watching a catwalk show. The future looks bright.

.Galliano.

Arrested? Shock. Suspended from Dior? Disaster. Anti-Semitic? Apparently not.

The real truth however reveals that a small disagreement between the designer and a couple within a terrace restaurant in Paris this week, has been blown out of proportion. Onlookers described the arrest, as a peaceful decision to take the argument from the restaurant to the police station. Accusations of being anti-Semitic and the intake of alcohol however has lead to the suspension Galliano's role from within the fashion company, which is not good news but we hope this is all a misunderstanding....

.January Jazz.

.Now the second trend that blossomed in the new year is all this fashion jazz. Were going back to the 1920s and I'm very excited to see that the beaded flapper dresses have returned. Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and John Galliano had there flapper frocks down the spring/summer 2011 catwalks and we have been inspired. I am loving chiffon dresses, pretty blouses, elegant Mary-Janes and long chandelier earrings.

.Ballet Fever.

.The ballet fever is a classic of example of the close relationship between fashion and film. After last years hot vampire fashion fix due to the release of the vampire romance film twilight we are looking for something new and the oscar-tipped ballet film, The Black Swan is ready to inspire. With ballerina buns in our hair, perfect pinks and romantic skirts this could be just the right fashion update for you...

Chanel Spring 2011

.And it doesnt stop at clothes...we also want those ballerina beauty essentials, pink glosses, pale eyes and rosie cheeks are making us feel pretty.

.January.

. I have started the new year creating a marketing report, the task being to think of a new product range for a brand of your own choice. I chose the well established and popular high street brand River Island, opening a beauty product range of makeup and makeup accessories. Studying the marketing mix of Promotion, Price, Product and Placement, I have produced a convincing and thoughtful report on how the new product range would be launched and sold. I thoroughly enjoyed the project and found that I wanted to write a lot more than the word count would let me! Here below are three mood boards that I created to go alongside the report...

.New York.

.January took me to the most amazing fashion city in the world...NEW YORK. I had the most amazing time studying the US retail market, sight seeing and of course....shopping! It was the most incredible experience, the bright lights, yellow cabs and the most luxurious stores I have ever entered, an experience I will never forget.

.KURV MAGAZINE.

.Here are a few photos that I love from the icons issue of Kurv Magazine.
.Featuring model Alison Arboux, photographed by Jonathan Segade. Stylist- Sara Bascunan.
. Arboux's tousled hair and natural make up make her look innocent and the setting of the photographs make the photos feel romantic and sweet. The dress in the second photograph is designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and I really love the detail and colours.

.WORK.EXPERIENCE.

.Today I visited DanceWork Studios off Oxford street in London to attend a large model casting for Next's January swimwear collection.
Working with Lindsey Hunt who specialises within Fashion Productions and two clients from Next, I observed people at work and helped throughout the day. I loved the buzz. It was an open casting and a huge number of models turned up. Both male and Female models were asked to walk in front of the clients and if shortlisted was asked to walk in front of a camera and to introduce themselves.
.I was allowed to observe and ask questions in the studio most of the day but I also helped back in the changing and waiting area. I registered the models on arrival and helped organise them into groups efficiently to go through into the studio, also giving clear instructions on what they needed to do, wear and take into the studio with them throughout the day.
I absolutely love the experience and have been asked if i would like to come help out with the production in January! So another successful trip to London.

.LONDON.TRIP.

.On Thursday the 11th of November I travelled down to London with my university friends.
.We first visited the V&A museum and explored the fashion floor, with old V.Westwood dresses and recent McQueen dresses i was very inspired and took many photographs to keep.

.Our second visit within the V&A was the to the Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes Exhibition.
.Diaghilev's greatest achievement was his dance company - the Ballets Russes. Created a century ago, the productions of the Ballets Russes revolutionised early 20th-century arts.
.The designs and colours used in Ballets Russes productions forged a new aesthetic in the 20th century. Knowledge of the company's revolutionary ballets went through to the theatre, fashion and daily life, including interior design. Diaghilev's presentation of his homeland in particular created a strand of Russian style.
.I personally loved watching all the videos that were in the museum of the ballet dancers, their movements were mesmerizing. In one room they had a massive projection of dancers across two huge walls which was fabulous to watch, the video often used silouettes of the dancers against a vivd background... bright colours or bold patterns.

.After the V&A we took a trip to Bond Street to visit Selfridges, They had an interesting new christmas window display. With funky bright colours and cartoon figures it was an unusal choice for the luxury store.I loved how creative each window was and so enjoyed the fun vibe given, however the actual christmas sign above the Selfridges clock I was actually disappointed with, just because i felt it was almost to simple and not impressive enough to go with the store, but I may change my opinion with time.

.Overall I Loved the day trip and being at the capital city at this time of year deffinatly made me feel very festive the oxford street lights were a treat to see !
